อาร์ตเป็นเด็กยิ้มง่าย อยู่กับปู่และย่าอายุ 80 ปลายแล้ว ที่เลี้ยงหลาน 2 คนคืออาร์ตและมุกน้องสาวมาตั้งแต่เล็กจากการรับจ้างกรีดยางพารา พ่อติดเหล้า และอาจจะเป็นสาเหตุที่แม่ทิ้งเด็กๆไปและก็ไม่เคยกลับมารับผิดชอบลูกๆ อีกเลย ส่วนพ่อเสียใจฟูมฟายติดเหล้า ติดน้ำกระท่อมจนไม่เป็นผู้เป็นคนและไม่พร้อมที่จะเป็นพ่อที่ควรเป็นทั้งพ่อและแม่ในช่วงเวลาแบบนี้ ครูบอกว่าอาร์ตร่าเริงน้อยลงมาก จากเป็นเด็กแจ่มใส ตอนนี้เงียบๆ ไม่ค่อยพูด ไม่เหมือนเมื่อก่อนที่เป็นคนเพื่อนเยอะ เป็นเด็กสนุกสนานตอนที่พ่อแม่เค้ายังอยู่ด้วยกัน น้องมุกยังเล็กมาก แต่โตมาตอนแม่ไปแล้ว ไม่เคยยิ้มและไม่พูดไม่จา ใช้เวลากับตุ๊กตาเก่าๆ ตัวเดียวที่มีอย่างเงียบๆ เหงาๆ ติดปู่กับย่าและดูเป็นเด็กมีอะไรในใจตลอดเวลา อาร์ตชอบกีฬาตามประสาเด็กชาย ฝันอยากเป็นนักฟุตบอลมืออาชีพในอนาคต แต่พ่ออยากให้รับราชการเป็นทหาร เอาจริงนะ ไหนๆก็ไม่เลี้ยงแล้ว ทำตัวไม่เหมาะสมกับความเป็นพ่อแล้ว ตามใจลูกเถอะ เพราะอาจจะเป็นอย่างเดียวที่ดี ที่เธอจะให้ลูกก็ได้สักครั้งนะ ในชีวิตนี้ที่ยังไม่ได้ให้อะไรเค้าเลย ยกเว้นทำให้เค้าเกิดมา
